hi im a 22 yr old female and i think im addicted to ritalin. I am perscribed 30mgs daily but i take almost triple that a day. I have been on ritalin since about 6 months ago, but i keep taking more. I need advice on how to stop because it is making me depressed and only wanting more. Has anyone gone through this before?????

Hi Kliz,

I knew a woman around the same age as you who also became dependent on Ritalin and was using it daily. I suggest that you talk with your doctor (the person who prescribed it to you) about it. Ritalin can become addictive, and it sounds like you've crossed the line. You doctor might recommend a detox center and/or 28 day rehab program...there are some underlying reasons for addiction that you'll want to explore in this kind of setting. Will you insurance cover this type of therapy?
