I'm sick of hearing and reading about what people are saying about adderall. SHUT THE FRIK UP all of you! its a prescription medication for psychological disorders. its not some rave drug. gah dang. just because youve heard of "few" people abusing it and going off the top with it doesnt mean thats what it's purpose is! jeez! a medication is a medication, its not anyone's business except the prescribed person's. im serious, ive taken this med for years, i havent experienced any of the crud you guys are saying about it, all of the med bashing yall are doing is mainly out of spite and really bad assumptions and it kind of sounds like maybe yall have some kind of hypochondriac issues towards certain meds. every type of med has some media hype on it. adderall has a lot because its a class II controlled substance, big freeking deal. if schizophrenia or diabetes or arthritis medications had CII written on its label they would probably have the same med bashing hype like adderall does, but it doesnt mean the meds are bad, its just that people are very negative and like to 'hate' on things they dont know too much about. stop hating and bashing these medications. just because the word amphetamine has a very minuscule irrelevant background and/or history does not mean anything, adderall is ONLY derived from amphetamines.. its not meth and its not something to get high off of and it doesnt destroy everyone's life. so shut up and if you want to bash on something how about you get all the facts and stop blurting out your useless opinions and stop trying to "scare" everyone.

Extremely eHealthy
Hey, don't worry Jennifer. Most of us agree with you and we just consider the source. I do think that some people have had horrible experiences on it but there can be horrible experiences on any meds you take. It just so happens, that the people who have had bad experiences are talking out.

Everyone is so different and what works for one person may not work for another.

I get frustrated with all these med bashing threads as well. If someone is just mentioned their side effects on that med, that is understandable. It is just important to note that everyone is SO very different.

Glad to have you here!

HUMBLE YOURSELF
Jennifer, do you realize that you can get a prescription for cocaine and herione and other street drugs??? Just because it is prescibed doesn't mean its safe or its good for you; its a drug that has serious PHYSICAL as well as PSYCHOLOGICAL effects on you. Sometimes the drugs are necessary and their good effects outway there bad effects but just becuase you have a presciption means you're validated. I've been taking adderall for 12 years now and finally getting off of it; quite honestly it feels like I belong on celebrity rehab.
For your information adderall is a form of methamphetamines... aka crystal meth, a hard street drug. It has a totally RELEVANT and HIGH-PROFILED background that correlates to this drug. Its a controlled substance for a reason. Try to go cold turkey from it for 2 weeks after you have been taking 70-80 mg a day and tell me what you think.I'm in nursing school and these are FACTS not opinions! Drugs have medicinal reasons but they are never the answer and they are never 100% safe.
Your ignorance just pissed me off; I don't care how old you are or how little of education you have because you should become a little more aware of the totality of a subject before you run your mouth.
Quite honestly this drug was not worth what I've personally had to sacrifice.
If its working for you right now that is awesome; but that doesn't make anyone else less credible with their experience and knowledge of the drug.

I will say for me, I do not have issues, but I respect the drug and its potential for abuse/addiction so I have made sure to do things like drug holidays, fluctuating dosage (i rarely use the full dose because I never want to increase it) etc, so I would say I advocate for it BUT....I now believe it has caused issues within our household because my husband seems to be addicted and a calm, happy house has went to one where I walk on egghshells, sex life has plummeted,he says hurtful things then rationalizes them later etc etc. it can be "bad" or "good"

Okay, whoever was saying that just because the drug is prescribed to you means it's safe, is completely ignorant. In fact, I bet when they wrote that they were geeking on adderall. You typed an awful lot...and I bet whenever you were having a "comedown", you weren't so happy go lucky with the whole adderall topic. Anyway, I'm just 17 years old, but this drug has sent my uncle to rehab numerous times and I started taking it when I was 15. The comedown effects made me so depressed that I tried committing suicide. I was sent to a behavioral health hospital and geuss what the prescribed to me. ADDERALL. So, just like the other person said. Doctors make mistakes all the time. Pretty soon Adderall is gonna be banned, and you're going to realize that effects it really were dangerous. Nothing with the word amphetamine could be "good" for a person..
Adderall has killed people,it's legal.
Marajuana hasn't, it's illegal.
Just do the math

Some people need it and it may not be 100% safe...neither is the temper that comes along with someone with ADHD. Some people need medication to cope with everyday life. Everyone is different and it is a science to find the right dose for you because we are all individuals. You need to go to a specialist and not some freaking primary care physician who could care less and is just giving you meds and wishing you luck. If you are properly monitored and find what works for you then please tell me why someone should have to suffer? If you had terrible experiences I can understand. I was misdiagnosed many times and finding the right medication was a science. I did ,however, find it and now I am social, I enjoy life, and that is all I have ever wanted. You do know that people who are bipolar are misdiagnosed, a lot of the symptoms overlap... If you are misdiagnosed and take adderal it will not have the same effects as it effects different parts of the brain. It is scary because if you are bipolar and diagnosed with depression and they give you an SSRI...you could be driven to mania.
Also, NO NOT on some medicated rant..I rant when the meds have run out...
