I'm a 25 year old male. Two days ago I began to get an 'upset stomach' sort of feeling and wrote it off as some light food poisening and took some tums. Within a few hours I had a fairly high fever and was extremely cold. I felt an ache all over and my stomach felt 'uneasy' but I wasn't exactly nauseous. I did not throw up or have any diarrhea. Since then I have had an on-again off-again fever but the stomach pain has changed. Now it comes in acute waves which make it feel like I may have gas cramps every 30 min - 1 hour. During this cramping the area where my shaft attaches to my torso also shares the acute pain. This pain in my shaft does not increase when I pee nor is it brought on when I pee. I still have had no diarrhea of any kind.

On Monday morning I am leaving for a week on a trip and I wanted to know if this is a sign of something serious enough to postpone the trip and see a doctor. I would also like to know what the symptoms may be pointing toward.

Thank you.

Hello and welcome to e health forum.

From the description of your symptoms it seems that you might be having a prostatitis.

You might benefit by consultation with a urologist for a examination and proper assessment of your condition.

In the mean time, use of NSAIDs like advil or motrin might be helpful to control the pain.
