I never had acid reflux until like 2 weeks ago? What is a safe thing to take while pregnant?

Thank you in advance

Hi again my dear friend...I am so happy for you and your husband with the new baby coming...What really does work and I think will help you, is to raise the head of your bed up about three inches...If this does not work then bring it up a bit more...This condition kind of comes with nausea and in time should pass....I had this years ago and have kept it there as I like it...My husband snored and this has helped him....

Again best wishes and I hope you stay around...We missed you....Take care... 4you

My doctor has me on Nexium. I have sereve GI and acid refulx issues. With this pregnancy I haven't had one episode. This is something you do not want to let go untreated. Acid reflux kills the healthy cells in your esphogus and when new ones grow there is a chance of cancerous ones growing in their place. Esphogus cancer is a very deadly form. The thought I had it last year. Thank God I don't however I have to take precautions like watching how much acidy foods I eat, stop eating at least two hours before bed time. Sleep on an angle to prevent pressure on my stomach and take my medicine.

The drug Nexium should not be used during pregnancy unless you have consulted your physician...This is the warning:

"The safety of this medicine in pregnancy has not been fully established. It should be used with caution during pregnancy, and only if the benefits to the mother outweigh any risks to the foetus. Seek medical advice from your doctor.

It is not known of this medicine passes into breast milk. For this reason, the manufacturer states that it should not be used by women who are breastfeeding. Seek medical advice from your doctor."

I suggest you stay away from it and anything else that is suggested until you speak with your OB-GYN...Take care...
