I've had this issue for a few years now.
Began when I was a smoker. One day, I
relized that I had to take deep breath
over and over because it felt like I
couldn't catch my breath. As time went by,
it became more normal to me. Every couple
or days to a week later I'd get this. All
day, I'd have to take deep breath every
few mins. I was on prylosac (I think
that's how it's spelled) and stopped but
started taking it again today. I'm told I
have IBS from all my other symptoms.
Beside IBS, this is what I have:
Acid comes up my throat ALOT
Dehydration
Nausea
Weight loss (10 lbs in about 8 months)
Dizziness
Numbness (Some parts of my body ...
example: my fingers or my arms once even
my tongue)
Fatigue (REALLY BAD TOO AT TIMES)
Trouble swallowing
Constant discomfort in the stomach area
Burning (stomach)
Anxiety
Shaking
Trouble Breathing

For how long you are suffering from
heartburns (acid coming up in your
throat)?
Are you experiencing chest pains along
with coughing and wheezing?

All of your symptoms can be due to
suffering from heartburn (burning pain in
the middle of the chest when acid refluxes
back into the esophagus)
This pain can extend to neck, back, arms,
abdomen and sometimes can mimic heart pain
(angina).
Coughing and asthma symptoms of breathing
difficult, are caused by acid reflux.
Lump sensation in the throat, hoarseness,
sore throat, repetitive throat clearing,
cough, choking sensations can be caused
and aggravated by acid reflux.
