Q: Acid reflux and medicines to treat it
asked by: DoctorQuestion on November 17th, 2008
Can protonix or an acid inhibitor cause acid reflux or increase it because it sure seems like it is?? What else could be causing this pain? Is there anything I should ask my Dr. to ensure I am getting the correct care?

Protonix and Acidex are medicines for curing acid reflux so it sounds very paradoxical when you say that these medicines made your acid reflux worse. Acid reflux can’t cause pain by itself but the primary condition that caused acid reflux could cause pain.

You can request a Helicobacter pillory test and barium enema test.

You could consult a gastroenterologist about your problem.
