Q: ache in neck area

for some time now, i've had a slight pain in my neck along the jaw line behind my left ear. My family physician doesn't have a clue as to the cause.

Any suggestions?

Yes. Ask for a referral to an orthopedic specialist, who might be better able to diagnose the condition.

Have you done any activity lately that you normally don't do? Like have you lifted anything heavy lately? There are a lot of muscles in that area.
