I had sex and didn't realize that my nuvaring had come out. We had sex multiple times that night. He didn't use a condom but he did pull out. I didn't realize it came out until a few days later. I don't have one in now and it happened saturday night/sunday morning. I started bleeding a small amount yesterday. Could I be pregnant or become pregnant? I took a plan B pill last night but don't know if I took it too late or not.

You are protected for about 3 hours after taking it out. Some couples prefer to take it out just before intercourse and put it back in after finishing, for this very reason. Just make sure you remember to put it back in!

There is a chance you could have gotten pregnant. The bleeding is however unlikely to be from pregnancy. It sounds like normal withdrawal bleeding. Of course that does not mean you are not pregnant, just that this is not a sign.

Get back on your ring as if it is the first time you are using it (avoid sperm the first 7 days and use 3 before skipping one). Take a pregnancy test 21 days after the sex, and again a week later to confirm the results.

The good news is that the risk of getting pregnant is generally low, even if you were not on any birth control. In any cycle, it is only about 30%. And you say he pulled out in time every time, and you were actually on the ring until that time. So I would describe it as surprising if you become pregnant, rather than likely.

Your cycles will be in a terrible state after this, the stress and the Plan B. so expect unexpected bleeding and side effects similar to pregnancy/PMS.

So relax, keep your mind off it and wait for a pregnancy test before starting to worry.

Best of luck!
