MY girlfriend has already had her period once this month and she just started bleeding again last night. She is still a virgin and is not sexually active at all. After she started bleeding last night she has been hurting all over and can't eat because it hurts her so much. She is too afraid to go to ER because of a similar thing that happened to her mother. Does anyone have an idea what might be happening?

Tell her she needs to get over her fears and go see a doctor, now. If you're in so much pain that you can't perform basic functions like eating, then there is something very wrong and the longer she waits, the worse it will get. Abnormal bleeding combined with that kind of pain is a medical emergency.

I've told her to let her mom know so she can see a doctor but i don't feel right telling her mother when she doesn't see fit to tell her mother. She is 17.

At this point, I honestly think you would be doing her a favor by telling her mother. I know that's not an easy thing to do, but that level of pain is how our body tells us that something is very wrong. A little bit of cramping or mild pain along with abnormal bleeding is often reason enough to go to a doctor, but that much pain along with bleeding when she's not sexual active is serious. ANY time you're in so much pain that you can't function - unless you already know what's going on and are being treated for it or something - you should be going to the ER. Even if your girlfriend gets mad at you for it, either you or her needs to realize the severity of the situation, get over the fear, and get her to a doctor.
