Q: Abnormal hair growth

I'm a 21 year old female with long brown hair and every now and then i find some what of blonde/white hair strands growng on the side of my neck and back. One was about 4 inches long and i plucked it, and now i have been noticing about 1-2 inch strands growing on my neck and back. I don't understand why this is happening, and it's quite embarrasing. I think it might have something to do with being under alot of stress. Is this possible? Or what else can cause this to happen? I don't know what to think!
