Hi there,

I am new to the forum and I don't know if this topic belongs under "heart disease", so please don't flame me.

Anyways, I am a 17 year old highschool student living in Canada (for 9 years, 8 years in China previously). Today, in biology class, I did a lab regarding the change of heart rates. When it was my turn, it came to my surprise that the EKG monitor gave me a very abnormal result compared to my peers.

At first, I thought the pad things were oxidized, but after going through many different pairs and restarting the program, I still yielded almost identical heart rate results. My teacher checked the setup and could not give me an answer.

Here is a screen shot that I captured from logger-pro. Note: all these are resting rates

I like to believe that I have a very balanced diet, exercise and stress levels. I did cross country and basketball for this school year and I am doing track & field training (not competitively) right now. I am active a lot and I am not a picky eater.

Thanks for reading this, I hope someone can give me a shoutout on what I should do? (seek a local professional?) or is this normal?

Thanks in Advance!

-Ken

I don't see a big problem with your heart rate. According to your ECG-report and my calculations your heart rate is about 90 per minute and your partner's heart rate is about 80 per minute. Normal heart rate when resting is usually 60-80 per minute. This means that you have a very slight tachycardia. As I can notice from your ECG report you have sinus rhythm (P-wave present) which means you have sinus-type of tachycardia which is the most benign type of tachycardia.
You can make another (more precise) ECG report at your GP office.
