I gave birth to my daughter in April of 2011. Since June of 2011, I have been on the birth control pill called Avri.
For 3 months he had me on Apri, and I was experiencing bleeding throughout the package, and at the expected date of menstruation.
He then switched me to Avri, which I went back to him with the same issues after 3 months, he said for me to just wait a little longer.
I've now been on it for 9 months and still no change. I'm taking my pill at the same time every day, and I haven't missed a pill in over 2 months. Last months cycle was 'normal' I started spotting mid week before the expected menstruation week, and so I thought maybe I was okay. And now, this month I've been bleeding since day 10 of the pill pack, and at one point it was as heavy as a normal period. I have two pills left until the start of period week, which will come with a normal period, for a total of 3 weeks bleeding.
The bleeding I'm experiencing isn't heavy enough for use of a pad or tampon, but its dark red almost as if I'm actually bleeding, with brown clots. I have slight cramping and I'm exhausted.
Going to see my doctor Monday, but I'm looking for somebody elses opinion because this cannot be normal, and I'm extremely fed up.

Yes, you are right. It is not normal. It can take a few tries to find a pill that does not cause that.

After 3 months, you should not experience regular breakthrough bleeding any more.

Take an iron supplement to counteract the exhaustion. Do not overdose on it though.

Best of luck!
