Q: Ablation or hysterectomy ?

Rolling Eyes So totally confused. I have many symptoms that I have had many treatments for and now an ablation or hysterectomy are the only options. I have heavy bleeding, pain, bleeding between periods, and ovarian cysts. Those are the major ones. Birth control pills and patch, everyone of them has been tried. No luck and things just keep getting worse. One of my concerns is if I have a hysterectomy, and do not have my ovaries removed like my doctor advises, can I still have problems with ovarian cysts? This was my original complaint that is somewhat controlled by the bc pill but the pain with period and uncontrollable bleeding during and the week before my period seem to have become the worst symptoms and alter my daily routines with work, caring for children, etc. I don't even know if either one of the procedures will take away all of these symptoms. Can you help sort this out? My doc seems to have run out of options for me other than the two mentioned and I need to make a decision in the next month. Advice?

What your decision is must be yours...I have had the full Hysterectomy at age 47, with no regrets...They even took my ovaries...This is definitely a plus in your column...I have known two women who have had the Ablation...Their satisfaction would not raise a flag...However, each surgical procedure is different...One you may look at as long term and the other as a stop along the way to get to the next passage in life....I guess this is as much information as I can give you...

Good luck...
