Q: Abdominal pain
asked by: DoctorQuestion on August 18th, 2009
I am 31 yrs. old and am extremely fearful to the extent of repeated panic attacks. About a month ago I had extreme pain in my upper right abdominal region, just below my right rib for about two days only. I also could feel a golf-sized lump that was mobile in the same area of pain (below my right rib). I went to the ER and had a contrast CT scan performed. The doctor said that my colon appeared distended with a small amount of feces, but can't understand why I was in so much pain. I am not even sure if the area of distention he was referring to is where I feel this lump. The pain felt like labor pains that came in waves. It has now been about a month and a half and I still have the same golf-sized lump. I am not sure if this lump is just an organ (e.g. gallbladder) or if it is a lump that does not belong. I have seen a few other posts with this same question and I have awaiting if someone had similar symptoms and what their outcome was. I would appreciate a response. Thank you

You might ask your doctor to order an ultrasound of your liver and gallbladder to further address your concerns.
