Q: Abdominal pain and some blood in vomit during menstruation

I'm writing this post on behalf of my girlfriend, for the last three days she's been experiencing on and off severe abdominal cramps - nothing too unusual, but more painful than normal. Just this morning she had to vomit at work and noticed some blood in it. Not much, but some. I have heard that stress can cause a multitude of problems, and pray that this is the case, as she is an extremely stressed individual. The cramps usually occur at night and are gone throughout the day. Though eating too much at night will cause her intense uncomfortable sensations in her stomach and she'll be forced to vomit. She has been drinking coffee more often and has had a cigarette on occasion after having had quit for nearly a year.
She doesn't have insurance at the moment, what i was wondering is whether this should be an issue to take to the emergency room immediately or can a few diet/lifestyle changes sort things out?

NOt sure if this will help, but anytime you vomit blood, this needs to be looked into. I;d say yes go to an ER. You may not have insurance, but you can work out a payment plan with them. Your health is not something you play guessing games at. The stomach cramps and vomiting could be related to something serious, and its always better to be safe than sorry. I can understand hte stomach cramps if this is during her period, but not hthe vomiting up bloood. Cut out the coffee and cigarettes, this will help in the long run!

Shes gonna be fine, if she is in horrible pain and continues to vomit, she could dehydrate, you may end up taking her to the ER. See if she can drink Gator Aid or Power Aid, keep that down for the electrolytes. Ginger ale, Sprite or 7-up and saltines help.
