Q: Abdominal cramps and menstruation
asked by: DoctorQuestion on August 27th, 2008
I've been having cramps since last night around seven or eight, and I've already had my period last week. I never really have cramps after my period except for the time that I found out that I was pregnant before. That was about two years ago now, and no, I didn't have my baby, I got an abortion (ugh, by the way..) and ever since then my cramps have been really bad, but they've never come again after I've had my period. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is, do you think that there is a possibility of me being pregnant? Or am I only just being paranoid because this has happened before?

Early Pregnancy Signs and Symptoms Answer A4614
Current medical status: cramping

Current medical treatment: tylenol, midol

It doesn't seem likely that you can get pregnant only 5 days after your last period started.

I am not sure if you are still bleeding but abdominal cramps could be related to the menstruation itself or to other issues outside the genital system.

You may want to consult your gynecologist if the pain becomes intolerable.
