i have a sore/rash the side of the head of my penis, it has a pretty well defined border that goes from the base of the head towards the top but has not reached the tip.

it seems to also have some sort of blister like area in the center of it and has been secreting liquid that does have some scent to it, it is also sort of sticky when i touch it. its irritated and sensitive but doesnt itch or really burn more of just an annoyance. i also discovered another patch on my foreskin on the underside im not sure it was there before or if its spreading.

i have experienced this once before but not as bad in the same spot. just a minor irritation and discoloring but never to this extreme.

what could this be?

Hi,
Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am glad to help you out. From the symptom it can be fungal infection causing balanoposthitis. Balanoposthitis is the inflammation of the foreskin and glans and can be caused by bacterial or fungal origins or by contact dermatitis.

Oral course of antibiotics is needed. In addition, please don’t use any cosmetics on the penis, instead use some topical antimicrobials like Bacitracin or Lotrimin. Also corticosteroids and topical immunosuppressants can be used but they are available under prescription. Also retract the foreskin daily and soak in warm water to clean penis and foreskin. In case the symptoms persist then please consult a urologist/dermatologist for evaluation and antimicrobials and steroids prescription.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.

thanks for the reply as i figured it could be a fungal infection. no idea how i got this but i have had a cold and pretty sure i got sun poisoning when this all started, so could have been low immunity, i dont know.

when i posting my previous thread i did start using anti fungal cream on the affected area, aswell as keeping it very dry and clean.

as of now it seems to be clearing up, the "sticky" area of the infection has almost disappeared but its leaving behind raw skin which is some what of an annoyance, but overal i think its slowly healing and a couple more days it should be completely gone. i dont think im in need of oral antibiotics however.

thanks for the confirmation
