Q: A missing period and pregnancy
asked by: DoctorQuestion on June 25th, 2008
Hello,

I was wondering if it appeared that I am pregnant. Surely you'll be unable to answer as "every woman is different". But I decided to ask anyway.
I have never kept track of my period or menstrual cycle, until my last cycle which has yet to end.
I got my last period May 21 2008 and it finished on May 28 2008. It is now June 25 2008 and still no period. It has been 36 days since the start of my last period, is my next period going to come???
I have been having unprotected sex for about 2.5 months now, and have noticed in the past few days more discharge than usual, and perhaps even a wee-bit globby. I've also had severe cramps the past two days, similar if not identical to pre-menstrual cramps, but usually I only have cramps one day before i get my period...?
I use to be tired all the time (due to stress) and now I feel like I've got astronomical amounts of caffine in my system (VERY hyper) which contradicts a pregnancy...
Pregnancy test was negative, i took it 4 days ago.

Every pregnancy is indicated by a missing period but not every missing period means that a woman is pregnant. That’s why we use a pregnancy test to check if a missing period is due to pregnancy or not.

In cases when the cycles/periods are irregular it is hard to say if a period is missed or only delayed.
A negative pregnancy test is proof that pregnancy is not the cause of your missed/delayed period.
