Q: A lump under the arm

have got a lump under my arm for the first time...
the lump pains alot when touched or when I move my arm...could it be dangerous? it is really small..
a family friend used to talk about a lump in his armpit aswell...it turned out to be a cancer but it was cured later on...is it anything to worry...its just been about 4-5 hours since i discovered the lump should I wait fpr sometime and then check out with the doctors?
Am really scared..please help!

A “lump under your arm” doesn't sound urgent but requires a serious approach because of certain dangerous possibilities. For example, this “lump” could mean a skin infection (furuncle), sebaceous cyst, benign tumor on or under the skin, inflamed lymph node, etc. Pain indicates that you might have a furuncle or inflamed lymph node.

You may want to consult your GP for a physical examination first.
