Q: A little advise please

I have a stepson who is almost 10. There's a chance that he will living with us sometime in the near future (long story short, he lives with his grandparents).

Those of you that have children in school, what is the best routine to have in the morning? I'm stressing out a little cause I have a 4mo. old daughter too, and our driveway is pretty long (I can't see the road unless I go halfway down), and I don't exactly trust our neighbors so I will definitely walk down with him, at least for awhile. Any advise would be appreciated.

i only have a little one but i can see why you'd be anxious about it. can you just pop her in a carrier, like a babybjorn or something? or else put her in a stroller and take her for a walk down the driveway with you?

I was thinking more along the lines of: When do you wake them up? What's the best routine, eating then dressed then grooming, etc.? How long do they usually take? I'm completely in the dark about it.

I think it varies with each child. This would be a great question for his grandparents. Moving to a new house will be a new experience for him, and to help ease the transition it would probably help to keep on the schedule already established by his grandparents. Or so I would think, anyway. Obviously add a few minutes for the long driveway issue, but otherwise...

i think it would depend on the child. some kids wake up easily and are more independant. others are impossible to wake up and need to be told a hundred times to do everything or need help doing them. my niece is 8 years old and she takes foreverrrrr to get out of bed and dressed and fed in the morning so you have to get her up at least an hour before it's time to leave and you have to help her along the whole time - okay put your clothes on, eat your breakfast, now brush your teeth and wash your face, put your shoes and coat on, don't forget your backpack....

Thank you. I know it takes him forever to get his shoes on, lol. He's visited us before, but that was just for the summer, so there was no type of schedule.
