A couple of days ago I developed this bump between my butt near the very top of the crack and it has progressively gotten bigger. It hurts incredibly bad whenever I sit or stand, or just walk too quickly. I looked up information about a pilonidal cyst and other things but it is not secreting at all and there is no head or tip that makes me believe it's a pimple. It's just a large red bump underneath the skin and I think it may be pealing now. It's very embarrassing and painful and I'd like to avoid the doctors office. Does anyone know what it might be?

This sounds like pilonidal cyst, although it doesn't secrete discharge.
Actually, pilonidal cysts tend to take one of several courses, and in your case is an acute form of cyst, when the lump is obviously inflamed, and not draining.

Visit your physician or ask for referral for gastrointestinal surgeon trained in treating this condition!

painful bump
It could be a boil and in that case if your not diabetic you can use this-- mix a small amt of soap and sugar together like a paste, put it on the sore and put a band-aid on it. Wait till the next day and that will suck out all the infection. If it doesn't, try it again and it will bring it out. Then put on Bacitracin ointment and it will go away.
