(I'm 19 by the way)

I've never really had good posture so of course I don't have a good back. Also I played goalkeeper in soccer for about a decade and that position isn't good for your back either. That's why I never thought much of my back pain. Sure it hurt a bit but who doesn't have a bit of back pain? I really don't think anything is up but I'll as here anyway...

I guess the first thing is a few years ago I went to a chiropractor due to lower back pain. I had a problem with my T12-L1 apparently and after going to the chiropractor it felt better. I always had/still have some lower back pain though. I can't go a few hours without grimacing slightly at least once. It's a bit annoying but not a big deal.

A second thing would be this weird nerve pain I've felt. Again I got this a few years ago and it felt like a nerve on the lateral part of my leg was hurting. This was an acute pain that lasted for a couple seconds. Then about a month ago I felt the absolutely oddest pain in my left leg. It was a really quick, sharp pain in two places: one on the back of my left leg and the second on the lateral part of my knee. It lasted one or two seconds max then went away. This happened about 5-6 times a day for a couple days then went away. I could walk fine, it really didn't hamper me but I just thought it strange.

Third would be my hip. That is constantly snapping. I can snap/crack my hip like it's nobody's business. I remember I had a job interview not too long ago and when I went to sit down my hip had such a loud snap it startled the interviewer. It doesn't hurt, unless it's a really loud one then I feel it a bit but again, not a big deal. This also strikes me as more strange than alarming.

Finally this has been going on since yesterday and is what prompted me to post here. I have a unilateral pain in my lower back on the right side. I'm not sure what it is, muscle, ligament, kidney? (I know it most likely isn't but it's in that area) I can tell you it doesn't feel like the spine though, not like my previous lower back pain. The other pains were simply annoying but this one is slightly more than that. For a couple seconds I get a pain in that specific area. It's not very sharp but it's not totally dull either, not sure how to describe it. It does hurt though.

So am I just a product of my poor self? Have these years of physicality and poor posture simply led to multiple minor annoyances or can these things be related? I'm thinking the former but I figure this is an easy free way to get an answer or two. Also, I don't know if this helps or has any relevance but I can crack my neck and back something fierce. Not good, I know.

Oh yeah, and if anyone has an explanation for my old man hips that'd be great. That really weirds me out.

Hello El Diego,

Welcome to this forum and the wonderful people who post and try to help others.

It HURTS to read about all the pain that you have been in. I'm very concerned, especially at your young age.

ElDiego, I highly recommend that you look for the best neurologist/spinal surgeon that you can find in your area. Talk to those you know and find out which spinal doctor (with an MD at the end of his/her name) they respected and would recommend. Also find out which doctors they did noit like. If you live in an area where there is a professional sports team call their office and find out the name of the spinal surgeon they use for their players. You want the BEST doctor.

Then call and make an appointment to see the doctor who is at the top of your list. Next make an appointment with the doctor who is 2nd on your list. It is always a good idea to get a second opinion.

Take care, and stay in touch. Let us know how things go for you. Best wishes.

Sounds like what some doctors and therapists call mechanical back pain. By all means go to a specialist to get checked, out they may find something that needs attention, they might order radiology tests like an MRI which could turn up useful information, often though specialists and surgeons either cannot find serious damage or do not think that an operation will be helpful. If they cannot help then you may want to consider physio, chiro, or osteo.

Their could be two reasons why your hip is snapping, one is a tendon is suddenly being tightened that is wrapped around your femur it slips off rather like a bow string on a bow, and makes a noise as it is suddenly released, another is because may be the mechanics of your body are of whack, and the ball of your femur (thigh bone) is not in sync with the cup on your pelvis in which it sits, as you move the the cup and the ball want to be in two different places, so they come apart slightly, and make a noise like a suction cup coming off a pane of glass.

Good luck

Thanks for the responses guys, I'm going to the doctor's tomorrow. Today I was cracking my back and I felt a sharp nerve pain in my left buttocks. This kinda scared me, I never felt a sharp pain like that before. It hurt when I walked and lasted about 10 minutes. Later today I was playing Wii bowling and I did the same thing again.

Btw, my back pain in the lower right portion went away but I still have lower back pain pretty much everyday.

Hi, really sorry to hear about all the pain you are having.
Have you tried Tibetan Acupressure Mat?
Worked for me all right, really fast and effective.
Good luck.
