Man's mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimension. Oliver Wendell Holmes
Today is a new day of awe and I am grateful to share a slice of it with you. There are days when I awaken with my mind moving at warp speed and there are days when I awaken with my mind feeling quiet and at ease. There was a time when that bothered me as I always believed that unless my mind was creating, conceiving, connecting and coalescing there was something wrong.Through much trial and error I have come to a place in my journey that now fully comprehends that where ever my mind is it is expanding and whatever thoughts I am having are contributing to the expansion of my mind. As long as I draw a breath and allow my mind to create an image, I am changing by the second and will never return to the place I was prior to whatever thought moved me to this new place.
In my work as a South Florida Rabbi in recovery, I work closely with families of alcoholics and addicts and am able to help them begin the healing journey of forgiveness and letting go. As a Sober Coach, my work with clients centers around their capacity to learn how to slow down and be OK at less than warp speed, which is how most alcoholics and addicts lived during their active days. I know that I certainly did and no longer do.
How exciting to know that I am forever becoming rather than just being. Stop and consider the endless possibilities of who we can each become when we affirm the dynamic and energized changes that are occurring within us every time we have another thought. We can be so complacent in the face of this majesty of dynamic change. We can embrace our thoughts and allow for the dots not to be connected and know that they are still connected. I love the power I have over seeing my ever expanding universe.
My prayer for you today is that you affirm your mind, your thoughts, your soul and your endless possibilities as you journey through this universe one thought and breath at a time.
