Loving You

May 23rd, 2012 by RabbiMitch63
He that falls in love with himself will have no rivals. Benjamin Franklin

Writing daily messages is an activity that brings me great joy and I pray benefit you in some small way. One of the things that I so enjoy is learning from those that have come before me. Benjamin Franklin's wisdom is so simple, yet so profound. Reading his writings has illuminated me in many ways.

This particular quote stirred me as it reminded me that upon awakening every day, one of the first things I do is affirm my love of me, for I know that unless I love me, I have not much to give you. For a good portion of my life I relied on others for my love as I was clueless on what it meant to love myself. I had been taught that when I loved me I was being selfish, so I adapted and didn't love me. Clearly, that did not work and for many years I was adrift at sea.

In my work as a Spiritual Counselor, it is common for clients to commence counseling as external beings relying on the world outside for all of their feelings inside. As time moves forward and the person chooses to heal and has their moment of clarity, the most powerful shift of their life will occur; the begin their journey inward and begin to reclaim their power of choice based on how they feel, not how I, you or any other external being thinks or feels. Having gone through that experience and continuing to affirm it daily, I know the power of that moment and I rejoice for the client with the client. Their lives will never be the same.

My spiritual awakening revealed me to me and opened the door to a love affair I pray never ends. Loving me has provided me with the foundation to love you and no longer rely on you for whatever it is that I need. I can learn from you, but I am no longer in competition with you. Today, there is nothing I allow for me that I cannot give to you. I am truly blessed and grateful for the love I feel for me as I know that all I feel stems from my faith and God's (whatever that means) love for me.

My prayer for you today is that you find your love of you and know that when you do you will elevate your soul and spirit to a place beyond your wildest dreams.
