Loving Myself

June 6th, 2012 by RabbiMitch63

Loving me has been an arduous, pain filled, time consuming and joyful journey. It has been the most amazing journey of my life. I have chosen to heal the hurts that I lived in and victimized me for years. I have forgiven those I have needed to forgive. I have lost the anger, range and insecurities that drove me to booze, drugs, sex, food and despair. I have forgiven me!

I have learned what it is that I need to do on a daily basis for me to have the life long romance Wilde speaks of in the above quote. In my work as an Addiction/Spiritual Counselor, I am always asked how someone to get to "that place of joy" inside themselves. I always answer with, "what lengths are you willing to go to?" I say that because learning to love me was and is not a part time job. It requires my daily participation. I answer the following questions daily as my reminder to me how lovable, capable, worthy, blessed and deserving I am.

I currently am blessed with the trust of a client who so amplifies the willingness to go to any length to find their inner joy. This person has chosen day to day to take action that demonstrates her love for herself. She has gone from walking slump shouldered to strutting proudly and her radiance is a joy to behold!

As a counselor, I receive no greater joy that watching someone emerge within themselves just as others felt when I did. When they tell me they love me and can't thank me enough, I make it clear that what I have provided is a safe, trusting, nurturing and unconditional space that has allowed them to grow as they have chosen. I cannot make anyone do anything, but you can!

I invite you to take the leap and take a stab at seeing what you can find inside you today that will affirm you in a way you never have before.
