How Do You Get Cerebral Palsy?

October 18th, 2012 by lifeofthedifferentlyabled

The question of how you get cerebral palsy came up in a brain storming session. According to Wikipedia it is defined as: “Cerebral palsy (CP) is an umbrella term encompassing a group of non-progressive,[1][2] non-contagious motor conditions that cause physical disability in human development, chiefly in the various areas of body movement”

.

For me, cerebral palsy is all I’ve ever known and it seems to be much social stigma around the label of disability, especially as it pertains to youth and adolescents. Please keep in mind however, that cerebral palsy is all I’ve ever known it was something I was born with so I really do not know any other way of life. It is not something to pity nor do I feel sorry for myself because of it. In fact, I feel my perspective is unique because of having cerebral palsy.
