Italian actress Margherita Buy
This weekend my wife’s mother from Sicily was here and we watched a movie in Italian with the well-known Italian actress Margherita Buy. I thought, hey! she’d make a great Natascia in our independent film Catania! They thought I wouldnt be able to get a hold of her, but I worked on my pitch in Italian, found her agent on IMDB and sent her agent a note. Still waiting to hear back
We created a facebook event for our Kickstarter campaign so that people can go straight to the link. As little as $5 helps. We had one person pledge $1. Awesome!
We are 37% of the way there on our Kickstarter campaign for Catania! With 39 backers and three days to go. Thanks to the family members in Sicily for coming through this weekend. For those of you who aren’t familiar with kickstarter, we have to raise our goal by the deadline (in this case June 1 at 9:30 pm) or we lose everything and can’t make the movie. So please pledge! Even $5 helps!
We also picked up some interest on the facebook page for people with the Vaccarino name Sequoia Vaccarino after we said that the inspiration for the villa in the film is a Vaccarino villa in Sicily. The one thing that Vaccarinos love world wide is… anything with the name Vaccarino (including my wife and daughter)… so they really wanted to get involved. They are mostly from Sicily, however, and Sicilians are notorious for being adverse to the internet, which is what kickstarter is based on. Kickstarter also is in English and requires payment with an American Amazon accounts and most of them dont speak English very well and none of them have American Amazon accounts so that is kind of a problem.
