2e PROGRAM IN DC. NAGC pointed us to an article about a one-year-old program at a Washington, D.C., Jewish school. Called "Twice Exceptional" and led by a former staffer at the Montgomery County Public Schools, the program's aim is to "provide the correct accommodations and materials for students who may be misunderstood in the classroom." From the article: "..the optimal parent is one who is involved and responsive, who sets high expectations but respects her childs autonomy. These 'authoritative parents' appear to hit the sweet spot of parental involvement and generally raise children who do better academically, psychologically and socially than children whose parents are either permissive and less involved, or controlling and more involved."
